Salut,
When and if I ever become a teacher (it may happen, but that’s a long shot) I plan on grading things based upon the O.W.L. scale just to mess with my students. Not only will this wheedle out the kids I’ll automatically like over the others, but it will help introduce Harry Potter to those who have never experienced it.
Also, as I’m attempting a degree in chemistry, I would be able to act like Snape in my classes and think to myself that I;m a real-life Potions Master. This would help to make lecturing much more interesting if I could think of myself distributing magical knowledge to fresh young minds. Also, it would just be an excuse to treat every lesson near Halloween and a reason to dress as our beloved potions professor from the novels!
All of this would be made all the better if I was staffed at a college or boarding school, especially one in England where they are more prevalent.
Also, as interesting learning is usually more likely to stick with students, this method of teaching would hopefully create a general interest in the sciences and chemistry in particular, where as a dry class/lecture would be a turn off from anything relating to the boring subject.
Perhaps this is all wishful thinking, bur being a “Hogwarts” professor has been a goal of mine for these many years; spreading (magical) knowledge to underlings and increasing the intellect of young people to create a smarter world.
Here’s Hoping!
